The Election USA page is designed to be a one stop shop for access to state election information at state government Internet sites for every one of the 50 states which make up the United States of America.
The election information that is provided on the Internet by state governments typically falls into the following categories:
- Voter Registration Information
- Election Calendars
- Primary and General Election Candidates
- Primary and General Election Initiatives / Petitions
- Primary and General Election Constitutional Amendments
- Primary and General Election Results
- Primary and General Election Voter Turnout
The election information topics vary from state to state. I have found that EVERY state government provides SOME election information on the Internet. As I continue to develop the page, I hope to eventually list the election information topics provided by each state so you will know what to expect before you click.
If you are interested in other types of information from your state government, there is a nation-wide standard URL naming convention for state government home pages for every state in the country. This URL naming convention is:
Replace xx with the two-letter US postal abbreviation for the state you are interested in (i.e. AL for Alabama). You will be taken to the home page for that state.
For election information at the national level, you can vist the Federal Election Commision page. Here, you can find the following information:
- The law regarding campaign contributions
- Candidate, Party and PAC financial information
- Election and voting information
- Press releases
If you explore state and/or federal government information on the Internet, sooner or later, you will come across a link to a document that can only be read using a viewer program called Acrobat Reader. You can download this program directly from the Adobe web site at no charge.
Click the link below to download this program. This program also comes in handy for sample ballots in Acrobat Reader (PDF) format that you can print off and complete at home to take with you to the voting booth if they are available online.
The links below are listed in alphabetical order by state name. Just
find the link for the state you are interested in and click on it. You
will be taken to the most comprehensive list of election information links
I could find within the Internet site for that state.
